Evdokia Achilleos

Dr Evdokia Achilleos has been a Head of Sector in the European Research Executive Agency (REA), Unit ‘’B3- Biodiversity, Circular Economy and Environment’’, since 2021. In this role, she leads a dedicated team responsible for implementing key aspects of the Horizon Europe Cluster 6 and H2020 programs, particularly focusing on Circular Economy, Bio-economy, and Zero Pollution initiatives.

Evdokia has 14 years of experience in the European Commission, first in Water Policy and then for Research Programs in the fields of circular/bio economy, and zero-pollution. Her prior experience includes roles in the Greek Public Administration focusing on water policy, engineering companies where she addressed environmental impact and sustainability, and research on transport phenomena and materials (polymers).

Dr Achilleos holds a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and both MA and PhD degrees from Princeton University. Her academic and professional journey aligns with REA B3’s mission to advance European Research and Innovation. The unit actively works towards halting and reversing biodiversity decline, promoting sustainable and circular management of natural resources, preventing pollution, and enhancing the bio-economy’s potential in alignment with EU climate goals. The unit is responsible for launching calls for proposals and funding and monitoring research and innovation projects and collaborates with the partner DGs of the European Commission contributing to the valorisation of projects’ results, feedback to policy.
